Briefing:
Several club members arrived right at noon to start the meeting. While we waited for others to arrive, we looked at sever al constructions:
Chris Leach brought the facade of a new firehouse he's working on, with a brick pattern inspired by, but not the same as, that Sesame Street creation by Mike Crowley.
Peter Guenther brought a number of BrickQuest modules to show how his
modular system has evolved, including octagonal room pieces, second floors, and underground waterways.
Spencer brought his almost (?) complete Space Shuttle, a completely new construction from his previous one, taking advantage of some of the new wing and other pieces out there now. A battery box outside the Shuttle allows one to open and close the bay doors. He also brought several of his distinctive six-wide cars.
Ken Koleda contributed a naval vessel with rotating radar dish.
Purple Dave brought his Fleebnork Mother and several hoverbike-type creations.
Nik Pieniazek brought some SeaMonkey MOCs, an assortment of fighting robots, and a couple other Space MOCs.
During the business meeting we talked about some future directions and expenses for the club as well as a possible upcoming show; we also had
some initial discussion of who was going to BrickFest and what they'd be bringing.
After the business meeting, we got down to drafting some parts the club had had for a while. This month's draft introduced two new twists:
1. We drew several extra lots for absent members. Larry volunteered to act as a proxy and picked for each of the extras.
2. We auctioned off several larger or more desirable items before the actual draft--wires, motors, etc. Members bid with numbers of rounds--the winning bidder had to sit out that number of rounds at the beginning of the draft.
The draft took quite a while, so the meeting ended right after the draft.
