MichLUG once again had the opportunity to display at the Curious Kids Museum (CKM) in St. Joseph, MI. As in previous years, they ran a build contest for local kids to show off their creations and have a chance to win prizes. A few members were selected to help judge the competition.

We set up early Saturday morning and opened the displays to the public around 10am. The basement of the CKM places certain restrictions on how large a layout we can set up, so we endevored to fit as much as possible into the 15'x15' town display. A number of creations had not been in a train layout prior to this event. David Kohrman's freight depot was quite long and fairly interesting to fit into the track plan. David also brought a factory, which was really just a prototype for a large paper mill complex. Larry Pieniazek's Gaylord Building (based on a 150 year old building) was shown at BrickFest DC 2005 with a good deal of surrounding terrain, all of which could be dropped to fit into a normal display block. Larry's city block had only seen one other event, the NMRA National Convention in Cincinnati, OH.

In all the event went very well, with club members having lots of fun and attendess enjoying the displays and the creation contest.

John Knight made a movie with clips of the trains running, from the train as it runs around the track and of a few train crashes. It is about 12 minutes long.
