MichLUG made its third appearance at the Detroit Festival of Trees, a benefit for Children's Hospital of Michigan. This was our first opportunity to display at the Rock Financial Showplace, the successor to the Novi Expo Center, a common venue for us.

 

This was the Festival's first time in Novi as well; the event was much bigger than it was for the last two years in Dearborn. We continued to do the things that make this show special for us, including letting kids run the train for a donation to the hospital. We also donated a mini-layout as a raffle item. Between these two things, we raised more than $2000 for the hospital's Evergreen Endowment.

 

Our train display again ran the entire 10-day benefit. Members took shifts helping run the display on the weekend days and weekday evenings with help from volunteers from FoT during the weekdays.

 

We've already been invited back for next year and are working on ideas to make our part of the show even better!
